The Falk Navigator is available in a Europe version "Falk Navigator Europe", as a country version "Falk Navigator Country" and as a North America version "Falk Navigator North America". In Falk Navigator Country
you choose your regional map when first starting the application. You can select from different regions in Western- and
Eastern Europe. Important:  The selection of the regional map is one time only and cannot be reversed.  

The Falk Navigator is available exclusively on the App Store via iTunes. The regional version Falk Navigator Country and
the Europe version are available on all App Stores. If you do not yet have iTunes installed on your PC, you can download the
software free of charge at www.apple.com/de/itunes/overview/.
 

The iPod touch is not currently supported. The Falk Navigator is compatible with the iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4
(requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later).

A mobile Internet connection is required to activate the Falk Navigator. This is possible via GPRS or WiFi for example.
Make sure that your iPhone is not switched to flight mode. 

The iPhone frequently receives its first location signal via the mobile telephone network. The position displayed is often
a stationary one (e.g. a radio mast) and is not the correct position for navigation purposes.  

The iPhone has an integrated GPS receiver which is able to determine your precise position on the map. It can take more
than 5 minutes for your exact GPS position to be determined or a signal to be received. GPS reception is not usually possible
in buildings or tunnels.

Note: The Falk Navigator cannot provide detailed directions until it receives a GPS signal.

Tips for optimum GPS performance

• Ensure that your iPhone has a clear line of sight to the sky. This may speed up reception of the GPS signal.
• Do not use designer/protective covers as these may impair GPS reception considerably.
• When you switch on the Falk Navigator, your position will quickly be displayed with the help of the mobile Internet connection.
However, it may take more than 5 minutes for a complete GPS signal to be received. After switching on the Falk Navigator,
you may have to wait 5 minutes for a complete GPS signal before starting your journey.
• The status of the GPS signal is displayed on the Falk Navigator screen. You can check the status using the small illuminated
satellite dish at the bottom right of the navigation screen.
• If you still have no signal, switch off your iPhone. Press and hold down the on/off button and move the red on-off switch
to the right. Now switch your iPhone back on and try again.
 

If the Falk Navigator does not receive a signal within 5 minutes, GPS may not be fully functional. Switch the device off
and then on again. 

The iPhone’s Bluetooth protocol is restricted and does not allow the use of an external GPS receiver. 

One of the most important enhancements introduced by Apple with their iOS4 operating system is multitasking – the ability to
run more than one application at a time on an iPhone. With Falk Navigator, this enables you to receive navigation guidance
when on a phone call or while using other apps.
 
However there might be times when you might want to exit Falk Navigator completely to conserve battery power.
Here’s how:
 
1) Tap the iPhone “Home” button once. Falk Navigator will disappear from the screen.
 
2) Now tap the Home button twice to bring-up the multitasking panel.
 
3) Press and hold the Falk Navigator icon. After a few seconds the icon will begin to wobble.
 
4) Press the ‘-‘ ball on the Falk Navigator icon to close the app completely.

If data roaming is deactivated on your iPhone it might lead to a temporarily loss of GPS signal abroad.
However, this is different from country to country.  

Text-to-Speech can be purchased optionally via the Falk Navigator Store. The acquired license can be used for an unlimited
period of time. In the main menu, select Settings / Language & Voice and then choose the desired language. You will be
offered various voices for each language. Select the voice marked with a *.
Additional Text-to-Speech announcements can be activated under Settings / Language in the main menu.
 

The Falk Navigator contains up-to-date mapping material. Falk will be offering map updates in the future and will ensure
that existing maps can be updated. 

Yes. You can purchase the Pan-European Map “EU43” via In-App Purchase on the Falk Navigator Store and upgrade your
selected regional may to whole Europe. In sum you will have maps for 43 countries in Western- and Eastern Europe. 

This is not possible at the moment 

The accident black spot warning function is automatically deactivated when you purchase the Falk Navigator and must be
activated manually. You can do this under Settings / Safety Alerts. Once you have activated the function, it will remain active
each time you switch on your Falk Navigator. If you no longer wish to receive warnings, you will need to deactivate the function again. 

Yes. To do this, please select “Updates” from the Falk Navigator's main menu.
Note: For legal reasons, no data is available for Switzerland.
 

You can adjust the volume using the hardware buttons at the top left of your iPhone. It is not possible to adjust the volume
using your iPod. 

On Falk Navigator Store you can purchase additional features via In-App Purchase. Currently, there are Live Traffic for 12 months, Pan-European Map „EU43“ (only in Falk Navigator Country) and Text-to Speech available.
You will find Falk Navigator Store in the main menu.
 
 

This button is needed to restore additional purchased services after a reinstallation.

The licenses are (comparable to your iTunes ID) linked to the Falk Navigator ID. To restore a license there are two hurdles to take:
In order to download Falk Navigator again from the App Stpre you have to use the same iTunes ID as used for the initial purchase.
So, it is possible to download Falk Navigator free of charge. After installing Falk Navigator on your iPhone you have to use
the same Falk Navigator ID to reactivate your licenses as you did for initial purchase. This is the only way to restore your licenses.

Falk Navigator Country contains the complete European database. Therefore, when entering a destination you see cities
outside of your selected regional map. When entering a street name Falk Navigator Country provides the indication that no
corresponding street data is available and navigation is not possible. To extend your map coverage you can purchase the
Pan-European Map „EU43“ on the Falk Navigator Store integrated in the app. 

Yes. Live Traffic can be purchased optionally via the Falk Navigator Store. The acquired license will be valid for 12 months.  

You will need to reload or reactivate the content. Although the price is displayed and “Purchase” is shown on the button,
iTunes will not charge you for the content again. You can re-download or reactivate the content free of charge provided that you
do so using the same Apple ID.
